Sloppy Sovereignty

image

The GOP primary has revealed so many dynamics that psychologists, sociologists, and theologians will have plenty of fodder to complete a host of new Ph.D. dissertations in the near future. While I do not claim to be any of the above, I have been particularly interested in the theological acrobatics Christians have engaged in justifying a Trump candidacy and vote. Any one of a hundred reasons as to why Donald is God’s choice could warrant a college term paper in response, but I only want to briefly explore one that I have called, “Sloppy Sovereignty”.

Does God Care About How I Vote? (A Biblical Philosophy of Voting)

image

I recently posted a meme on Facebook concerning the concept of voting for “the lesser of two evils” and it has caused an interesting conversation. This conversation is not unique to me for a Facebook friend (Pastor Cary Gordon) most effectively created a series of educational cartoons addressing this very subject some time ago. You need to watch them and can find them Here.

A Moral Wrong Does Not Equal a Civil Right

The SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) legislative movement that is sweeping across America has produced a collision of two incompatible worldviews which will forever be irreconcilable. Biblical fidelity and sexual anarchy are simply contradictory to each other and no amount of understanding or negotiation in a legislative process will provide an acceptable compromise for either view. That is why I have often said, “There is no such thing as neutral”. When it comes to a prevailing ideology of a culture some group’s worldview ultimately dominates. This is why the SOGI debates are critical and foundational whether they be held locally, statewide, or nationally.

Valparaiso SOGI is on the Horizon

image

My residence is in Crown Point, Indiana. Not a few miles down the road is Valparaiso, Indiana, home of great basketball, great people, great churches, and a tyrannical agenda called SOGI. For those who do not know by now what the acronym stands for it simply means Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. Translated, most SOGI legislation is about forcing bakers and florists to facilitate homosexual weddings and how confused people can choose their bathrooms. I know that is a raw way of presenting it, but after months of being called a hater, homophobe, bigoted, Neanderthal, I have decided that I will be more direct. I have also decided that I would do whatever I could to expose and defeat what I consider to be anti-Christian bigotry.

The Kudzu Strategy of LGBT’s and SOGI Legislation

image Japanese Kudzu

You may not know what kudzu is.

It is a Japanese plant that resembles something between a vine and lettuce. Where these plants are naturalized, they can be invasive and are considered noxious weeds. The plant climbs over trees or shrubs and grows so rapidly that it kills them by heavy shading. You see lots of kudzu in South Carolina growing on the side of the road and attaching itself to anything that is stationary. It grows on anything…concrete, asphalt, electric poles, fences…anything. The original thought behind importing this plant was that it would be an inexpensive way to feed farm animals, especially cattle, thereby reducing expenses and increasing profits. Perhaps there was a good intent with regards to the idea of kudzu in the beginning, but now it has become archaic and an incredible burden and expense to maintain and remove from all that it grows on. Keep that thought front and center as we consider the LGBTer’s pushing SOGI legislation. What was initially perceived as an economic benefit has become an invasive weed costing more than ever imagined.
