Roe’s Reversal and Excessive Celebration
It appears that the nearly 50-year battle to overturn Roe v. Wade is coming to an end. Such a monumental moment is certainly worthy of some form of celebration as we move continually closer to a culture that values and esteems life at every stage and age. Many people have worked passionately and relentlessly to see the arrival of this day. No one can or should begrudge a moment of congratulatory affirmation to the many groups and people involved with such an accomplishment.
That said, there is a thin line between an appropriate fist-bump of congratulations for a job well done and the arrogant spiking of the Dobbs “reversal” decision in the cultural end zone. It is true that no one likes a sore loser; however, the only thing worse is an arrogant winner.
WHERE IS THE HGTV SHOW FOR THOSE WHO LAY FOUNDATIONS?
“According to the grace of God, which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it…”
I Corinthians 3:10a
My wife Tracie is an HGTV junkie. She loves “house” shows of any kind or sort. Whether it be real estate purchases, renovations, new builds, vacation homes, international housing, or interior decorating, it is all being recorded on the DVR for later viewing consumption. Of course, all that HGTV knowledge has paid off as she is a superior renovator and decorator herself, as all that design knowledge has been put to excellent use in our personal home. As a husband, I am certainly proud to receive guests and show off our interior design.

It has produced numerous challenges for the staff, members, and numerous people associated with the church. It has caused reproach within the city of Jacksonville. It has solicited jokes, cynicism, and reestablished the general skepticism the world has concerning the megachurch specifically and the Church in general. If you want to know more, it’s easy enough to find without me supplying links.

I Kings 18:30 NKJV
Altar is one of those words you hear on occasion at church and simply let it pass without much reflection of thought. The word is used 455 times in both the Old and New Testaments, so it is familiar by concept, but perhaps less by actual usage. The concept of altar has some development through the scriptures and is applicable in use to Judaism, Christianity, and even “pagan” religious expressions. So, when a person says the word “altar”, you cannot automatically assume it is being defined by your religious presupposition.Continue Reading
