Prosperity is one of those words which seems to either be exploited or eschewed in Christian circles today. The concept has abundant representation from both its advocates and detractors. There seems to be little “middle” ground when it comes to the two tangents of the prosperity pendulum. That’s unfortunate, because prosperity isn’t an evil concept; nor is it a gimmick. Prosperity, rightly understood, is one of the tools the Lord uses to expand His Kingdom work at large, as well as with individuals.

The Year You’ve Been Waiting For All Your Life
Like many of you I am reflecting on 2019 and making my 2020 “focus” list full of dreams, goals and aspirations for the coming year. I personally like the emphasis most cultures place on the transition of years. It’s like there is an embedded moment where you can define a date on a calendar where you decide to let the past go and focus on what’s ahead. That is not to suggest we forget the lessons or wisdom the past has taught us, nor be grateful for the blessings it provided, but rather an opportunity to shake the shadows of difficult and challenging circumstances which seek to define, hinder, or haunt us.

Your beginning is generally thought to be around 1959 when an Episcopal Priest, by the name of Dennis Bennett, experienced the gift of tongues and subsequently began preaching to his congregation what many might label Pentecostal theology. From this Episcopal church, the renewal experience (and various other miraculous experiences) began manifesting in all kinds of denominations and fellowships in remarkable ways all through the ensuing decades. Much of it was needed and genuine. Some of it was fleshly and fake. But no one can deny that in the last 60 years you impacted the face of Christianity globally for both better and worse.
